The Evolution of Revolution

The folding wheel was originally conceptualized as a folding bicycle wheel by Duncan Fitzsimons when he was a graduate student at the Royal College of Arts in London. After receiving public attention and calls from the wheelchair community telling him that this concept would be invaluable to wheelchair users, he redesigned it as a wheelchair wheel.

Maddak further developed the wheel after careful consultation with the community, and are happy to introduce MORPH™ Wheels–the world’s first ever foldable wheelchair wheel!

"I have always believed that my being wheelchair-bound has nothing to do with what I am able to accomplish in life; whether it be sports-related or an everyday task. Maddak has a proven track record of developing innovations that are specifically designed to improve the lives of the disability community. Their most recent innovation, Morph Wheels, make traveling exponentially easier for me."

"I'm really excited about my new Morph Wheels. Not only are they cool looking wheels, they also are very easy and convenient to fold. They fit easily into the trunk of my friend's car and worked out great on my recent trip to Arizona. The solid tires are also easier to push." - Steve Ferreira, Founder Beyond Disabilities."

When I hear folding wheel, my fear is that the wheel will fold when I am using it. Is this possible?

No – Absolutely not. The wheel is designed in such a way that as long as the quick release axle is through the hub of the wheel the wheel absolutely cannot fold. This fail-safe feature ensures the complete safety of the user.

What is the purpose of the metal spoke?

The metal spoke is another safety feature that is built into the design of the wheel. It provides extra strength and stability to the wheel. It needs to be locked into place before the axle can be inserted through the hub of the wheel.

Will the wheel fit all wheelchairs?

The foldable wheel is designed to fit all wheelchairs that accommodate a wheel with a quick release axle.

The Morph™ Wheel comes with a solid tire. Can the tire be replaced with a pneumatic tire?

No, in order for the wheel to fold properly the tire must be a solid tire.

Will I be able to change the tire myself?

Yes! When in the folded position the tire can be changed without the use of a special tool.

What will the rated weight capacity of the wheel be?

265 lbs (120.2 Kg)

Does the wheel come with a hand rim?

Yes, the hand rim is specially designed to fold with the wheel. The wheel will be supplied complete with the rim, tire and hand rim.

Will there be any safety features designed into the wheel?

Yes, the wheel is designed in such a way that as long as the quick release axle is inserted through the hub of the wheel, the wheel cannot fold.

Will the wheel be tested to any safety standards?

Yes, the Morph™ Wheel has passed the RESNA/ANSI impact, curb drop and double drum test standards.

I really like the concept of the wheel, but am not sure it is right for me. Can I have a trial period?

Yes! We are offering a 10 day money back guarantee. Try the Morph™ Wheel and if you do not like it, you can return it with no questions asked.
